Our Tipis

Our Tipis are produced from the best 12oz natural cotton canvas which has been treated to combat the problems of rot. Water resistant and flame retardant, it is the same material we use for our marquee manufacture and has stood the test of hard commercial use for many years.
A fire certificate will be issued with every tipi manufactured making it available for use in the commercial hire business.
The Design
The design of the Tipi has been well established over many years and we have taken this basic design and added our own well proven marquee construction methods to increase the life of the Tipi and to the ease the erection and striking procedure.
Our design includes:-
- Reinforced ground anchor eyelets.
- Double eyelet system for beckets.
- Synthetic hemp ropes.
- Double stitching on all main seams.
- Laced closed door for better security.
- Light weight inner door to deflect leaks around the entrance area.
- Choice of colours - sand, red, kaki, yellow, green, black, olive green, brown, blue and white.
- Choice of sizes 14ft, 16ft, 18ft, 24ft.
- Single length poles or split for easy transport.
Each Tipi comes with a full set of instructions, pegs, poles, door and storage bags to keep it safe and clean.
Poles - split
Split poles for our Tipis are made in 2 or 3 sections, each 8ft long, from Swedish Redwood. These sections are sleeved together (the tried and tested system used on tent poles for generations) and the top section is tapered at the last 4 feet making the Tipi as authentic as possible. This also makes them easy to store and transport using either a roof rack or trailer.
Poles - single length
24 foot Douglas Fir poles, renowned for its durability and strength. These poles are peeled leaving a good finish and no snags which could wear the canvas.
Tipis can also be sold without poles allowing you to source your own from local woodland – although these can be authentic, their strength and durability cannot be guaranteed by us.
Linings
Tipi linings are made from 4oz Polyester Trivia in an ivory colour that can be washed. These linings are based on the traditional design but have a PVC ground sheet velcroed into the base to keep out water and damp.
Linings extend approximately 4'6" up the side of the Tipi with the PVC ground sheet laced 6" from the ground to eliminate the drafts and to provide the right air change to clear the smoke from the fire.
All our linings are flame retardant which satisfy the required standard for the hire market.
Rain catchers
We also make rain catchers that secure to the inside top of the tipi and helpcatch some of the drips that inevitably come through the hole in the top.
